Fall marathon season is here. Instagram is inundated with everyone posting their highest mileage or their recent taper fantom pain.
While I sit here on the side lines…it is hard for me to partake in the merriment without feeling somewhat jealous. However, I have to remind myself that everything worth doing takes time, patience, hard work, and faith.
I might not be lining up on the starting line like so many I adore and follow from near and far. But, that doesn’t mean I won’t stop moving in a forward direction towards achieving my goals; even if that means some day, not right now.
Thankfully I have the best distractions in the world; Bodhi, Trout, Ryan, and my furry children. They’ve all been super understanding as I have had a few episodes/meltdowns after seeing where my mileage was and where it is now. In hindsight, it really isn’t the end of the world, but it sure feels like it when running has taken up so much of my mental and physical world; taking a step back is tough.
We are still getting out plenty!
Instead of the stroller, the boys are trading in their bikes and LOVING it!
Trout and Bodhi insist on taking the hardest route possible; I suppose they did come from me after all 😉
While my mileage has been much much lower, I have been doing a ton more strength training and circuit/plyometric work. I have noticed a huge difference in how much better my mood is!
When you can’t do as much of one, (i.e. running) you make up for it by doing the other (anything that keeps you busy/active/in shape).
On to more important things 😉
There are a ton of people I want to cheer on this weekend!
To all my Nark family; best of luck! there is no doubt in my mind you will all do beyond great. Sarah and her husband, enjoy being away from ND and have fun during those 6 hours you’re out trying to tackle as many miles as possible. Janae, over at Hungry Runner Girl, is running a marathon this weekend and I am rooting for her to have a happy, stress-free, and successful marathon, (her marathon last year was foiled by health issues…this lady knows first hand that we don’t always see things through the way we thought we would).
Everything worth doing takes a lot of work, blood, sweat, and tears and I know all of these people have put in the effort and now it’s time to see their hard work pay off! Not all will PR, but I am certain that everyone will walk away feeling like they have accomplished what they set out to do; I’m anxiously awaiting for everyone to cross the finish line!
Meanwhile…… I will be here holding down the fort with my boys 😉
Having these blondies in my world makes everything so much easier to manage. They are my favorite spectators sport 😉
