Perseverance Pays Off

Nothing worth having is ever easy.  I am a big believer of this!


These past few years I have been working my butt off to gain the strength and endurance in not just running, but so that I can cart my boys around and chase after them with ease.  I have a much longer journey ahead of me, but I am so stinking proud of what I have accomplished so far!

My self-esteem has always been below average. In fact, taking pictures of myself is always incredibly painful and even more torturous to put them out there on my blog and instagram.  However, I know that in order to promote self-love I had better fake it until someday I make it happen for myself!

I was pleasantly surprised today to find that instead of focusing on the fact that I am “showing off my body” for the world to see…I didn’t cringe at the thought and saw this incredibly strong woman kicking butt.  I am putting this out there so all you mamas can see that if this mama can do pull-ups than you can too! If I can run with a double stroller and still get out there on a regular basis, you can too! I believe in you all 😉

Bodhi took this video; he listens to netflix like a 90 year old man with a hearing problem…sorry 😉  He says that I am one tough mama and that was the best compliment I’ve gotten in a long time; thank you Beez!

Aside from the stroller; This is my list of “strength” exercises

  1. yoga! (yes, Mat Nark, yoga is strength building wether you believe it or not 😉 )
  2. Jump squats
  3. Jump lunge
  4. Long jumps
  5. Box jumps
  6. Skips for height
  7. lateral skips
  8. mountain climbers
  9. burpees
  10. planks
  11. push-ups (old school style)
  12. pull-ups (thanks to my husband who must have known that having a pull-up bar would have been the best thing he could have done for my upper body strength!)
  13. Carrying my boys around all day, (well, now just Trout…but he is HEAVY)

I will post some of my favorite work-outs including at least one of these in future posts…for now, try a couple and see how it gets easier as time goes on…that’s how I got to where I am with my pull-ups, (believe me, when I first tried I couldn’t jump into a pull-up!)

For now just know that if you stick with it, you can accomplish what ever you set your mind to!  Today was validation that perseverance is paying off!
